Coral gets bitchy: Storms out of TVE and Eurovision

Blogilkar guest writer Daniel Motiño Camúñez reports:
Spanish 2008 and 2010 runner up Coral Segovia has been profiting her last moments of glory in the Spanish press before and after Eurovision Song Contest. The day before the Big Final she was interviewed by the Spanish daily "El Mundo" where she announced that even though it hurts, she will never try again for Eurovision Song Contest due to the big disappointments and all the broken dreams in the last 5 years . She also said that Spanish television does not take the contest seriously at all "it is like if a freak played for the national football team" , she stated making mention (hopefully) to Roberto Chiquilikuatre. The cherry on the cake arrived when she was asked to give her opinion about Daniel Diges and "Algo Pequeñito". She said with a smile on her face "I would rather keep that opinion to myself".

But the real polemics started when Coral was mentioned by the Swedish commentator just before Daniel Diges took the stage in Oslo 2010 stating that Coral and "En una vida" should have represented Spain in the contest; look who is talking as I do not really think the Swedish are the ones who should tell this year which song to select! We can’t also forget that the composer of Coral's song is Swedish so maybe the mention was not exclusively for Coral. After the contest Coral provoked again Spanish Television by posting on her Facebook profile "Congratulations to Germany and thanks to Swedish television for telling that I should have been the one in the contest". The reactions from Spanish fans came quickly by posting unfriendly comments which lead the singer to switch-off her profile and threaten everybody by taking legal actions if they try to humiliate her again.

Coral keeps on insisting that Spanish Television manipulated her performance and the voting and that Europe wanted her to go to Eurovision (well I think Spain has to decide on that..). Press releases also confirm that Coral was kept away from interviews due to her strong character and that the cheap show provided by John Cobra was nothing compared with Coral, who started to throw chairs and scream on the green room after the results. If this media release will help Coral or not, we do not know at all but seems like the artist will never be in Spanish Television or Eurovision Song Contest again.

Coral tried to represent Spain five times (Deshojando Madrugadas 2005,  Dónde irán los sueños 2006, Todo está en tu mente 2008, Babylon 2009 and En una vida 2010) being runner up in 2008 and 2010 and retiring her song in 2009 before the end of the online voting. She will represent Spain in the next OGAE Second Chance Song Contest where she came second in 2008 with "Todo está en tu mente".

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

MALTA: THE QUEEN OF L-GHANJA TAL-POPLU - CORAZÓN MIZZI!

If The Travellers have proven recently one can do great singing in Maltese there's also someone else doing great stuff: Corazón Mizzi. While in Malta I was looking for some Maltese CDs only to find out they pretty much don't exist, and the most helpful staff in legendary D'Amato - probably the world's oldest record store today - suggested me Corazón's Hawn jien (2014 album). Having nothing else really to bring home I decided to go or it without even realizing it is the Corazón from Maltese Eurovision selections. And what a find it was! Thank you D'Amato! But let's start from the obvious: Eurovision. Corazón has been offering us songs in the Maltese Eurovision selection since 2009, actually making her best result this year with Falling glass , one of my favorites btw. I also liked last year's Secretly but that failed even the final. But Corazón's true calling is singer-songwriter in Maltese as this excellent album clearly shows. We have al

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

EUROVISION 2024.... COMING UP!

And Haide is charting also in Bulgaria and Finland, of all places. The catchiness of her hits has changed less over the years than her face....  Here's the English version , below the Greek version.
