NATIONAL FINALS 2013 ROUND UP - WHAT'S GOING ON, WHERE AND WHEN?

Belarus will be most likely the first country to have their entry out, as their national final will take place on December 7, 2012 already. There will be semifinals during the month of November.

Lithuania is going for the long road. Their selection process starts already this Saturday. Qualifiers will head to the semifinals later on and eventually to the final. The first shows are sort of casting shows where the artists sing non-original songs of their choice. The first one presents 17 artists..... These shows seem to be five all through November, followed by two semifinals in December leading to the final early next year.

In Switzerland the German online selection is going on with several familiar names, from Lys Assia to Melissa and everything in between. The Italian part has also announced their finalists but we haven't heard the songs yet. The French part will choose internally for the mid-December Swiss national final.

Israel is apparently going for a big semifinal holabaloo as well. Three semifinals each with ten artists, three of them qualifying for the final plus one wildcard added to the final line up.

In Finland the songs chosen to compete in the UMK 2013 will be revealed by YLE on December 3, 2012. There will be various programs in January and the final in February 9, 2013. The same day also Norway and Iceland will choose their entries

Albania will use once again FIK for the selection. One would think the interest would be high after Rona Nishliu's excellent placing in Baku, but RTSH has had to extend the submission date as only 40 songs were received in due time. However, the event will take place already in December 20-22, 2012.

In Sweden we already know the first song, Island performed by Elin Petersson. She won the public contest for the non professionals through SVT's website. She will join Therese Fredwall in the line up. Later this year we will know the other 30. Let's see then if Dr Alban and La Camilla with her Happy Hoes have made it!

The Netherlands announced Anouk will represent TROS in Malmä 2012 so she became the very first artist know this time. The song will be presented in February.

Azerbaijan has also kicked off their selection. One can apply during October 15-25, and then propably there will be similar process as there has been the past two years..... Heats after heats after heats and then in the end someone wins and go shop for a song from Sweden.... yawn.

Iceland's TV was faced by a record interest this year receiving a record breaking 240 songs. There will be semifinals in January and the final on February 9, 2013.

Latvia is having two semifinals on February 8 and 9, and then the final on February 16, 2013. Songs by foreign writers are accepted this time but the singers must be Latvian.

Ukraine, known for its rather weird selection results and scandals, tries to make a clean and smooth selection this time. Songs can be sent in by December 22, 2012 by anyone and a jury will pick up 20 of them for the final supposed to be on February 16, 2013 where there is supposed to be a 50-50 jury-televote.

In Denmark the Eurovision fever is high due to the fact the contest will be held practically in the neighborhood. 692 songs were sent in and DR will host one off final without all those endless semifinals and eliminations - thank you for that also this year! - and promise a huge show on January 26, 2013.

Austria will have its final on January 15, 2013. There's supposed to be only five songs selected for the final.

In Estonia the songs are accepted until December 10, 2012. There will be two semifinals on Februaty 16 and 23 and the grand final on March 2, 2013. All singers and writers must be Estonians (Hooray for that!) and the rules also state they must be "in the good mood".... :-)

To be updated and continued.....

ESC 2016 WISH LIST: MARGARET FOR POLAND

Małgorzata Jamroży aka Margaret has also been tipped for Eurovision and apparently she did turn it down but she'd be perfect. She's got a look and persona you can't unnotice nor forget, she's got hit songs, she has been voted or nominated for everything from Trendy artist to the Hope of the Year, Fashion Icon and Glamour Woman of the year besides the usual best video, song, album, debut..... Oh she's also a fashion designer! She's very clever with social medias and would surely use it to her advantage if selected for Stockholm 2016. Her debut album is titled Add the blonde , do we need to say more? Except it includes mostly Swedish written pop tunes like Tell me how are ya , Wasted , Start a fire and Heartbeat . And of course her debut single and internationally noticed Thank you very much that you can enjoy below with all its anti-textil feel. I think she's Eurovision perfection, she's cheeky and fun, can we have her?

SONGS OF THE YEAR 2015: #5 KRISTA SIEGFRIDS - ON & OFF

Krista Siegfrids is delivering nice pop tunes one after another and this one is particularly catchy and soon you will be singing along..... Hopefully her Melodifestivalen entry will be equally good!

GOODBYE, FAREWELL...

The time has come. After all these years, 5,7 million visits, 12.000 articles I guess the time has come. As much as I love and care for Eurovision it just doesn't feel the same. The Corona years took their toll and the past two years and certain decisions have helped me to mature the idea that next year I will hear the songs for the first time in semi-final just like any so called local.  The bubble has burst. Add the toxicity in social medias and fandom. The arrogant teenagers who saw their first contest somewhere 2017 or even 2021 who think they know it all and only their opinion matters. Did I mention the toxic atmosphere on social medias? I'm too old for that sh*t. It's been a long ride that took me to various Eurovision on spot as a fan and tourist,  as a journalist, as a delegation member. I met some great people, made memories of lifetime. In stressful, sad periods of my life this blog has been my safe place, a place to escape and forget everything else for an hour o

ESC 2016 BELARUS: NAKED WITH WOLVES?

Today's funniest Eurovision related story comes from Belarus. Some sources claim Ivan wants to perform on stage naked and with live wolf or wolves. It surely would be a first on Eurovision stage! We have seen some forgotten underwear over the years, and some cardbox animals though..... Is it time to take things a bit further?  No, according the rules live animals are not allowed, and Eurovision being a family show nudity won't do either. (It seems to be ok to be half naked if you are a dancer though..... )

Kuunkuiskaajat in Russia!

Kuunkuiskaajat are performing tomorrow in Russia in Sosnogorsk Rock Festival 2010. Apparently the festival has something to do with Finno-Ugric culture and Komi.... I have to investigate that a bit more. Anyways, way to go girls! Meanwhile here they are a couple of weeks ago in Helsinki's Korjaamo .

EUROVISION 2024: BLOGILKAR'S HOME JURY RESULTS REVEAL - PLACES 32.- 37.

Another year, another Home Jury. And mind you, never ever before the results have been so surprising and I must honestly admit so not in line with my own likes and dislikes but what can I do, they have spoken. We voted with scores from 1 to 10 and this year also the scores are all time low and without a runaway winner. Ties were broken by highest individual scores. This year our unprofessional, mildly interested, regular Eurovision viewers included people in their teens, 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. Both sexes, various locations in Finland added with our exotic Peruvian member to spice things up a little. I will count down the whole ranking in coming days from bottom to the top so please do follow up and comment if you like. Let's go! 32. SPAIN  3,63 33. ARMENIA  3,25 34. ICELAND  3,25 35. GEORGIA  3,25 36. GREECE  3,00 37. MOLDOVA  3,00

EUROVISION 2024: DAY 6 - FIRST REHEARSALS OF THE BIG 5 + SWEDEN

The Big 5 are in town and on stage for the first time today for their first 30 minute technical rehearsal. And there are boxes. United Kingdom has a dirty old boxing training hall's shower room where everything seems to go very dizzy indeed a la George Michael's toilet scenes. Germany has a house on fire instead and the box theme continues with Sweden.... France goes all intimate instead and does already the familiar step back from microphone a Capella thing that will go wild in the arena. Can't wait! CAROLA'S BOOBS STEAL THE SHOW, SVT APOLOGIES

Update! Another thing got Swedes talking last night: Carola's boobs when she was giving away an award. This is not the first time her boombs cause headlines; her misfortunate adventures in the 80's in Japan wer explained with her boobs being too big for Japanese market. Ok.... Or was it the song ? Anyways, Carola apologies and says she thinks the dress is stylish and elegant (even her friends said so) and she's a mature woman in her 40s, not a 16-year-old girl and looks like one. The Swedish Oscars, Guldbagge awards were given out last night. Carola was there as a guest star to sing Barbra Streisand's The way we were when honoring the movie stars who passed away during 2012. However, the cameras were too much on Carola, not on the stars showed in photos in the background and that upset many viewers as that part of the show was to celebrate them, not Carola. Oh well...  The producer of the show tells in Aftonbladet the part of the show was made the sam
